The role, at a glance:

Biamp, a leading manufacturer of professional electronics for use in the installed audio and video communications market, is currently recruiting for a new Field Sales Engineer based in the Northwestern US, who will work with customers in the Northwestern US region. This position is a primary source for pre-sales technical and design support for all Biamp’s products.

This is a technical sales position, educating end users, consultants, AV integrators and distributors in design and performance attributes of Biamp’s products and technology, primarily in a pre-sale capacity. The goal is to ensure the client specifies the right Biamp system for their project and are certain of achieving the performance they expect. The Field Sales Engineer also provides training and coaching to the design and installation teams for the distributor or AV integrator, with the aim of completing projects more effectively and profitably. This position partners closely with Biamp account managers and members of the business development team, as well as with the technical support team, whilst maintaining a close relationship with the customer.

The ideal candidate will be based in the Pacific Northwest within one hour of a major US airport.

How you'll contribute:

  • The Field Sales Engineer will take a leadership role through the technology evaluation stage of the sales process with major projects and key clients, remaining available to assist during the development of system design.

  • Manage all elements of the technical communication between Biamp and end users, consultants, AV and control integrators and distributors up to the point where the product is ordered. This includes writing (or participating in writing) proposals, drafting design drawings, providing quotations and creating any technical documentation or guidance required during the pre-sale stage.

  • After being introduced into a project by the Sales or Account Manager, a Field Sales Engineer’s responsibility is to develop relationships with decision-makers and technical staff, becoming their technical resource and reference.

  • Provide demonstrations and training of the technological aspects of Biamp’s products and solutions in the field to system integrators, consultants, end-users and distributors on all aspects of Biamp’s equipment, its functions and its uses.

  • Drive the sales process through all phases requiring technical or design decisions. Fully explain to clients how a Biamp solution solves their issues. Help increase Biamp market share by providing world-class technical expertise on every project.

  • Participate in regional trade shows as necessary, meeting customers at the booth and delivering equipment demos and providing technical expertise.

  • Maintain an ethos of constant self-improvement on sales techniques and technical skills.

You'll also support with:

  • Providing input and guidance for the creation of operations manuals for new products.

  • Creating and proofreading content for Biamp’s online knowledgebase.

  • Report client feedback on technical matters to Biamp leadership. Identify and report any areas that could be improved upon for increased customer satisfaction.

  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

A successful candidate should have:

  • Comprehensive general technical audio, video and control knowledge.

  • Experience with programming and installation of AV and control systems.

  • Extensive computer networking design and support experience (preference in audio video networking), with CCNA, CCNP, CCDP, ENS, CompTIA or other relevant IT industry qualifications a big plus.

  • Good computer literacy skills, including working knowledge of the MS Office suite, CAD programs and EASE.

  • Experience interfacing with distributors, system integrators, consultants, and end-users in the professional audio-visual and control industry.

  • Strong technical presentation skills, and the ability to address a wide range of business and technical people, from company presidents to non-technical staff.

  • Ability to build long-term relationships with customers.

  • Ability and strong self-motivation to enable efficient work as part of a team in a location remote from the company’s offices.

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. The ability to speak and write fluently in another European language is a big plus.

  • Relevant degree or professional qualifications desirable.

  • The ability to lift fifty pounds for carrying demo gear and setting up speakers.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability
Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026
Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
